At Dr. Tina Dorfman Family Dentist, our Pointe Claire dentists use dental crowns and bridges to restore your smile.
What are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative dental treatments that can help to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.
They can help to fill space left by missing teeth and can also help you maintain your natural facial shape as well as return your ability to speak and chew properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can help restore your smile – and your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth that are placed over an entire decayed or damaged tooth to restore its original shape, size and colour. Dental crowns improve the strength, function and appearance of a broken tooth that may otherwise be lost.
Crowns are very strong and can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and if cared for properly, can last 10 years or more.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking restoration that 'bridges' a gap of missing teeth in your mouth. Made up of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space, which could lead to more serious dental issues including gum disease.
Dental Crowns & Bridges on Dental Implants
Dental crowns and bridges are used for tooth replacements after having a dental implant placed. A dental crown is fixed to the dental implant and when taken care of, can last for many years. Implant bridges are used if you don’t have healthy teeth or enough teeth to support a bridge, or when several or all teeth are missing. A custom-made bridge is anchored to the dental implants.
